Sugaring & Waxing

Both of these techniques of hair removal are very effective and have amazing, long-lasting results.

Sugaring

Excellent for sensitive skins. Sugaring is a natural, organic method of hair removal that has been around for hundreds of years and can be used anywhere on the body. It consists of three ingredients, and here at The Beauty Business - we make our own!

It's just sugar, water & citric acid (lemon Juice), so we know exactly what we're putting on your body.

The main benefit of sugaring is that it does not stick to the skin, only the hair. Therefore, it is able to pull the hair directly from the root. Because the sugar only gently exfoliates the skin, it can be reapplied multiple time to the same area of skin.

Waxing

Waxing can be performed all over the body - but requires multiple types of wax. The waxes we use are usually made from resin, beeswax, oils and other additives. Due to how it's removed, some waxes can be harsh on the skin, so if you're sensitive - we'd encourage you to consider sugaring.

With any form of hair removal there is always a potential for increased sensitivity following your appointment.

Before & After

  • Hair should ideally be ¼-inch long before your appointment

  • A few days before your appointment, lightly exfoliate the area to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs

  • On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean, dry skin and avoid wearing any creams or perfumes

  • For 24 hours after the appointment, avoid tanning, swimming, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, hot baths and any further exfoliation as all of these could aggravate the skin

Check with your therapist if you are currently using/taking...

  • Retin-A or other topical creams

  • Accutane

  • Hormone replacements

  • Certain antibiotics

Laser Hair Removal

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Our medical grade Intense Pulse Light (IPL) machine concentrates a beam of light onto the hair follicle. The light is then absorbed by the hair’s pigment causing controlled damage to the hair follicle, preventing it from re-growing in the future.

Hair grows in cycles. These cycles are known as anagen (growing), telogen (resting) and catagen (dying). In order for the hair removal treatment to be effective the hairs must be at the anagen stage. Research indicates that between 20% and 30% of hair follicles are in the growing or anagen stage at any one time. As a result, multiple hair removal treatments are required Between 6-8 sessions depending on hair/skin type.

What to expect

Our state-of-the-art system is much kinder to the skin. It is an extremely precise and can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle, the cooling system eliminates any heat which makes for a comfortable experience all round.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Hairs should be roughly 1 to 2mm long so it is possible to just see the area being treated Long hairs take up the energy and prevent all of the heat reaching the hair follicle. Hair is therefore trimmed/shave just before the treatment for maximise transmission of the energy.

Avoid skin exposure to UV (sun or tanning beds) or self-tan before or between treatments.

  • SHR – avoid UV for 2 weeks.

  • Do not exercise or use sauna, steam room or jacuzzies before you treatment.

  • Avoid any exfoliating or microdermabrasion for at least one week before your treatment.

  • Hydrate the skin and body by drinking plenty of water before you attend your appointment.

  • Apply Aloe Vera gel to relieve any sensation of heat or itching.

  • Avoid shaving, using deodorant and perfumes in the treatment area for 48 hours
